It's also useful for checking up on spam on your blog; I seem to to be getting quite a bit as of late, however, when I'm on the go, it takes me literally just a few seconds to delete it.]]> Sometimes the best apps on Apple’s iTunes Store for the iPhone and the iPod Touch are the free ones. A pattern I’ve began seeing with some of these free applications is that their developers tend to continue their further development, rather then abandon the projects after making a few bucks and moving onto a next get rich quick scheme. The following iPhone apps are all SEO (Search Engine Optimization), SEM (Search Engine Marketing), and (SMO Social Media Optimization) related tools which I use on a daily basis.

skypeSkype from well… Skype allows you to utilize Skype services to IM chat or speak with anyone in the world. The catch? – They have to be part of the Skype network. Also, iPhone’s carrier ATT recently removed the ability of using Skype on their 3G network. You’ll have to utilize a WiFi connection to make any outgoing calls.

The following are all free steps that you can take in performing basic SEO for your website.

Step 1: Signup and install Google Analytics; a powerful tool for analyzing visitor interest and behavior on your website.

Step 2: Create and setup a Google Webmaster Tools Account.  Make sure to fill in as much information about your website as possible, including uploading an XML site map for your website.

Step 3: Signup for Yahoo Site Explorer Service. Fill in your information.

Step 4: Signup for MSN Live Search Webmaster Center. Fill in your information.

Bookmark all 4 websites and monitor them closely. The submission process can take a while, but before you know it, you’ll begin noticing results. This is just the beginning however. Building backlinks is essential in getting exposure and noticing your content ranked high in search results. Never fall for scams in trying to sell you backlinks. It’s extremely risky and you may end up with search engines blacklisting your content.
