All Points West Festival 2009
Natalie and I got tickets for Friday’s lineup at the All Points West Festival in Liberty State Park; just a few blocks away from our house. We were really looking foreword to seeing The National, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Beasty Boys. Week before the festival, Adam Yauch of The Beasty Boys was diagnosed with cancer and their Friday’s headline spot was filled in with Jay-Z. Below is The National’s opening which i shot with my iPhone.
More Shots from Last Week’s 4th
I’ve taken about 220 images in total on the 4th last week. Again, I was extremely disappointed that I didn’t take my tripod and have already prepared for next year by purchasing a Gorillapod Gripster Tripod on eBay. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use of it before next year. The tripod is pretty cool as it allows you to wrap its flexible legs around any surface providing a steady platform for the camera. Over the weekend, Natalie area heading to Strathmere where I’ll take the new tripod for a spin.
Katyn Forest Massacre
Right at Exchange Place in Jersey City, literally a block away from our new building stands the Katyn Forest Massacre monument. In 1940, the NKVD, which later on became the KGB murdered thousands of Polish military officers, intellectuals, and civilian prisoners of war. According to Wikipedia, over 22,000 hidden graves were discovered, ironically by Nazi Germany in 1943.
Around the Neighborhood
There are 2 pressing freelance projects that I have in front of me at the moment and I’m trying to get as much completed as possible. I’ll post some info on these projects soon. Earlier today, Natalie and I took Peanut out for a long walk by the water. The view of the lower Manhattan is amazing, yet, with just a 180 degree turn, the view of our building is even more impressive. I’m so glad we’ve moved here, in a strange way it feels very therapeutic to live here, close to the water.
