1 Billion Apps downloaded off iTunes
Just a few minutes ago, 1 billion iPhone/iPod Touch applications were downloaded off of Apple’s iTunes. That’s pretty impressive considering that the iPhone 2.0 software upgrade enabling developers to build applications for the device only happened 9 months ago. I myself have downloaded quite a few of them, as well as bought a couple which I found either useful or entertaining. I’m still addicted to TouchGrind, which I wrote about a few weeks back.
Apple’s countdown brought along a contest with prizes including a 10,000 iTunes gift card, a 17″ MacBook Pro, iPod touch and a few others. As with any contest, the actual details are in the small print.
Prizes. One (1) winner will receive one (1) 17” MacBook Pro; one (1) iPod Touch 32GB; one (1) US$10,000 iTunes Gift Certificate; and an Apple Time Capsule. Total US Retail Value of all prizes is US$13,746.
The prizes might be great, but if you managed to download an iPhone / iPod Touch application in the past few weeks, you’re up against everyone else who participated as it seems like there’s only 1 winner. Best of luck to everyone, the results come in 48 hours.
